Functional Type

My final degree show exploring the possibilities of letterforms as functional typographic objects, which incorporates: Mesh and cable tie type –┬áThis piece portrays the restrictive nature of typography in both print and on screen. Typographic light – Holes were made in a piece of acrylic to form the letters, which were then backlit. Typographic clocks – These clocks are made from veneered plywood. The rounded letterforms make great clock faces. Copper pipe type – These letterforms are constructed from copper pipe. This piece takes inspiration from old victorian cast iron radiators.
